Defeated

The #cantfly series of watercolour paintings was inspired after a long admission in hospital, and the challenges faced after discharge. Each depicts a challenge to re-engage with society, and the fears with that – although you have wings – you will forever be tethered to the ground.

“Defeated” shows the classic pose on hands and knees with head bent, as if weighed down by life. This was painted at a particularly difficult point in my journey and depicts how I was feeling at the time.
